Empathetic Eating: Nourishing My Body through Cancer Treatment

Living with Glioblastoma or any cancer comes with its fair share of challenges, one of which involves frequent visits to the doctor's office and undergoing various tests. For me, a weekly blood draw is part of my treatment plan to keep tabs on my health status. These tests are crucial in determining whether my body is holding up well or if there are any concerning changes.

Chemotherapy, while necessary for treating cancer, can wreak havoc on the immune system, leaving us vulnerable to other illnesses. To counteract this, I've significantly changed my diet to boost my immune system as much as possible. However, it's essential to strike a balance – while I want to stay healthy, I also don't want to inadvertently strengthen cancer cells by taking too many supplements. Consequently, I've opted to get my nutrients, vitamins, and minerals primarily from whole foods rather than relying on supplements.

I vividly remember the advice of a knowledgeable nutritionist who emphasized the importance of consuming foods directly from the earth in their organic form while steering clear of processed alternatives. Following this advice, my diet includes various organic fruits, nuts, vegetables, and sustainably sourced meat protein. Additionally, I've incorporated a morning shake into my routine using Vega, a nutrient-rich option free from harmful chemicals.

The results speak for themselves – I feel fantastic, and all my health indicators are consistently green. However, I'm always open to learning and improving, so if you have any insights or advice, please feel free to share them in the comments below. Together, we can navigate this journey with empathy and support. Thank you.
